It is easy to see how Van Gogh painted this canvas: first the flowers and butterflies, then the blue background. The blue brushstrokes spill over into the green flower stems every now and then. Van Gogh even left part of the canvas unpainted, leaving the ‘bare’ canvas visible. Using different shades of green, he gave a depth to the tangle of stems and leaves. Van Gogh was able to effectively capture the character of the fragile poppies.
The Paint cushion is made from 55% viscose and 45% cotton with a digital print and a plain green-coloured back made from cotton. The cushion is finished with cord piping. It measures 45 x 45 cm.
